Tehachapi, California is a wonderland of different landscapes. This is a scene from the Tehachapi Mountain park just south of Tehachapi. There is a grouping of rocks and valley oaks that are difficult to take pictures of because of the strong dappling of light. The rocks are a mirad of lichen, moss and cratered so are highly textured.
My son, Matthew, captured this view this spring and just knew I would enjoy drawing it. He was right. This particular spot had a hidden path through the stones. I opened it up just a bit....
